Global Medical Device Manufacturer Chooses Oracle Cloud for Better Forecasting, Planning, and Execution

Our client, a global medical device manufacturer that markets more than 16,000 products in 135 countries, faced a significant obstacle: Its home-grown IT systems could not keep up with its evolving business needs. To ensure its long-term goals remain within reach, the organization required a best-in-class, scalable solution capable of supporting complex operations across the enterprise and providing the validation necessary to sell its products in highly regulated environments.

The company had built its legacy forecasting system on a Qlik platform, and it had several shortcomings. In particular, updating forecasts by entering additional data from multiple stakeholders proved difficult. Inputting new data required excessive effort and collaboration because the system required adding it at the lowest level. Oracle Cloud applications — on the other hand — allow users to view and enter data at various levels, making collaboration much more efficient.

The company turned to Oracle for help, and Oracle, in turn, recommended partnering with Inspirage, Part of Accenture, to find a better way forward. Inspirage initially supported Oracle with cloud road mapping. That project led to an Oracle Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) pilot implementation at a single client manufacturing site, which provided the template for an eventual global rollout of Cloud ERP. Improving financial forecasting capabilities was a top priority for the company, so Inspirage also recommended implementing Oracle Cloud Demand Management (DM) and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to enhance its supply chain planning.

LTL Carrier in the Driver’s Seat with Oracle Cloud Fusion Financials

In many ways, the cloud has revolutionized businesses’ ability to work more effectively and efficiently. From reducing operational expenses to improved collaboration among employees and enhanced flexibility, the variety of benefits of cloud computing technologies has made cloud adoption an easy decision for organizations. In fact, it is estimated that 88% of enterprises have adopted cloud technology in some form, according to estimates from the research firm O’Reilly. The pandemic has only accelerated cloud adoption as 99% use at least one public or private cloud according to polling done by Flexera. Nearly universal adoption is largely a result of COVID-19, which forced many organizations — and their employees — to operate remotely.

Last year, this LTL carrier was seeking to leverage the flexibility that the cloud offers. Before working with Inspirage, the company had on-premises storage, with physical servers installed at their headquarters. Naturally, on-prem infrastructure requires workers to be on-site if they need to access information that is relevant to their tasks at hand.

Our client was also using a legacy enterprise resource planning solution called TruckMate. TruckMate is a software package that allows motor carriers to manage their day-to-day accounting processes, such as billing, dispatching, asset management, and maintenance. While it had allowed the organization to complete its various objectives, the on-prem nature of the solution made it impossible for employees to work remotely. With an increase in business resulting from the pandemic, our client needed to leverage every available resource, so staff were in a position to succeed.

Our client, one of the biggest dairy and juice manufacturers in the Middle East, is focused on making this nutritious and versatile beverage widely available to its customers. Headquartered in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, it owns 23,000 cows, makes 150 distinct products, and is the largest unit of the business conglomerate to which it belongs. Its operations span Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

Before working with Inspirage, this company did not have a single system for tracking its manufacturing and distribution activities. Instead, it had relied on a patchwork of older solutions to accomplish this goal. A Construction Equipment Manufacturer Builds Configure-to-Order Solution on ERP Cloud

An industrial manufacturer, specializing in construction equipment such as wheel and crawler excavators and wheel loaders, had recently acquired a facility in the U.K., further extending its international presence. Following this acquisition, the new site represented almost one-third of the entire firm’s production but required a complete overhaul of its IT systems to synchronize its operations with those of the rest of the company. Inspirage was contacted to help with the switchover to multiple Oracle Cloud solutions.

The facility’s existing IT infrastructure was highly complex and deeply intertwined will all aspects of its operations. In particular, its complicated configure-to-order (CTO) system presented unique issues which required Inspirage’s extensive CTO experience to resolve. Oracle and Inspirage provided post-go-live support for this solution.

Inspirage helps 3PL scale its operations using modern Cloud applications – from ERP to HCM

A third-party logistics (3PL) provider, based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and primarily serving a global furniture chain, wanted to expand beyond furniture. To fuel its growth and scale its operations, the company decided to transform its entire value chain including all systems and processes. Increased market share, service innovation and the development of a best-in-class platform within its industry were the central goals of the intended transformation. The business worked closely with Inspirage to overhaul its systems and implement modern scalable Cloud applications.

The 3PL firm started with core procure-to-pay processes and the applications supporting them. The business had been using Navision previously but was looking to transition to cloud solutions that were easier to use and manage, as well as better-suited to its increasingly mobile workforce. The organization also wanted cloud technology for future-proof operations that could keep up with its rapidly changing requirements. Having to rely on a mix of generic and legacy systems greatly reduced the speed of its business and also led to many preventable clerical errors.

With modern cloud applications in place and better processes implemented throughout the organization, the 3PL provider is well-positioned to extend its operations. Additional benefits are ultimately expected from the revised approach to transportation management, which has already contributed to an increase in on-time deliveries. The new SaaS solutions can also help various requests beyond its traditional domain of furniture orders.
